IMAGE INFORMATION
i capture all images digitally using high resolution RAW format essentially providing me with a digital negative which i then process in my digital darkroom using state of the art software. similar to a traditional dark room process, i attempt to reproduce the scene or mood as i originally experienced or envisioned it, and to enable a more expressive, vivid presentation while remaining true to that particular moment in time and to my personal style. this is accomplished by utilizing techniques that have always been available in the traditional dark room such as contrast enhancement, color saturation, and dodging and burning. a caveat needs to be stated here regarding images viewed on this website. i have taken great care to accurately represent the finished image in my online gallery, however due to web limitations and differences in an individual user's monitor settings, printed photograph colors may differ slightly from the photographs viewed on this website. generally, the colors and clarity of the image are greater (better) in the final print.
PRINT INFORMATION
the final output of a fine art print requires the finest in equipment and materials and great attention to workmanship. i make the final print with a 2008 canon ipf-6100, a professional wide format printer utilizing a 12-color pigment ink system which creates a broad color pallet and true fidelity in color management. these inks deliver exceptional print results, are specially formulated to reduce graininess, minimize bronzing, and resist scratching and fading. i proof each print to insure that it meets my standards for fine art prints.
all images are printed on archival (acid-free, museum quality) photographic paper. i am currently using Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta, Ilford Gold Fibre Silk, and Pictorico papers for all color and B & W images depending on image. these are premium quality papers on a true photographic base and are designed to produce the highest quality images. the visual and technical benefits include greater detail and definition, extended tonal range, and excellent archival properties. in addition these papers have a unique look and feel which have become the standard for fine art photographers worldwide.
if you choose to have your image matted, you can take comfort in the fact that i use Nielsen & Bainbridge’s Artcare™ Alphamat System exclusively. this is an acid-free, museum-quality preservation matboard with foamcore backing, which protects your image from air born pollutants, reduces yellowing, and is fade and bleed resistant. all mats are 4 ply white.
i have recently begun printing on canvas with amazing results! i use BF Inkjet Premium Matte Canvas, which has the highest D-Max rating of any canvas on the market and has won several awards for its image quality. i then coat the finished image on canvas with a UV protectant which also makes it water and stain proof and will last a lifetime. finally, i "gallery wrap" the image around a wood frame such that the image is wrapped on all four sides of the frame leaving no wood exposed. please contact me for prices for the image size you would like to order.
